This Pacific Seacraft was commissioned and equipped by a very knowledgeable and accomplished sailor who had owned a Crealock 37 prior to having this boat built. Thousands of ocean miles on the Crealock 37 helped formulate and clarify what features and options should be included in the new boat and after many trips to the factory and discussions with Bill Crealock and the staff at Pacific Seacraft, the final design was agreed upon. The original owner, an ex-racing sailor, wanted his boat to sail to its full potential and this boat was optimized to sail her best. One of the considerations when adding options was to make the boat as easy to sail as possible and with roller furling on both headsails and the electric primary winches, which can be used to raise the main, it is a push button exercise to trim the sails.

Broker’s Comments: The listing broker was a PS dealer when this boat was sold new. He knew the original owner and sold it to the second owner who had a change of plans about 6 months later and he subsequently sold it to the current owner who was also a friend.  The current owner had just retired and set out to explore the Caribbean and did so for 5 years.  He also had a plan to do a transatlantic and decided in 2016 to send the boat back to the new PS factory in North Carolina for an extensive refit. In May of 2017, the owner, the previous second owner and another friend set out for the transatlantic and they had little to no issues with the boat and made several days of 160 miles per day.

DETAILS

  • Drop Rudder: Remove steering gear, remove AP tiller arm, Remove/Inspect bronze gudgeon, Inspect SS rudder shaft Replace Delrin gudgeon bushings, replace shaft packing, Reinstall.
  • Inspect, Clean, and Lubricate MaxProp
  • Rebuild PYI Shaft Seal

  • Replace Staysail Tack Plate with new fabricated waterjet cut, mirror polished 316 stainless steel with new polished head carriage bolts, nuts, and washers.
  • Replace all standing rigging: Replace all standing rigging and turnbuckles. New rigging to have swaged uppers and mechanical lowers.
  • Replace Main, Jib, and Staysail Halyards with New England Rope
  • Provide new Forespar Carbon Whisker Pole
  • Provide new Ullman Mainsail, Staysail, and high cut Yankee including "Stack-Pack" and provision for Tides Strongtrack system.
  • Basic Service Cabintop Winches 
  • Install Tides Marine Strong-Track system for mainsail handling
  • Portlight Rebuild: Remove opening portion of portlights, disassemble, clean, replace lens, install new gaskets, and reinstall to boat.
  • Remove carriage bolts from deck beams, over-drill, fill with epoxy and mill fiber, re-drill, reinstall/rebed carriage bolts.
  • Install new .25" 316L bare stainless steel lifelines utilizing existing pelican hooks
  • Strip, prime, fill holes for existing spreader lights, and paint spreaders.
  • Rewire mast and install new LED Spreader Lights and combination Steaming/Foredeck Light, replace corroded VHF coax.
  • Caulk teak cap rail: Mask sheer stripe, remove existing caulking at teak cap rail, apply new black and white polyurethane caulking.
  • Install Chafe Guards for Stern Cleats
  • Convert water to fuel tank: Remove existing SS water tank and hoses, fabricate and install new aluminum fuel tank, replace fill line and deck fitting, install new supply and return lines tee'd into existing system with shut-off valves at junctions.
  • Replace existing fuel lift pump for Fischer Panda and add additional secondary lift pump. Add terminal block and wiring for second pump.
  • Install Eclectic Energy D400 Wind Generator System as owner specified
  • Rebed hawse pipes: Remove hawse pipes, clean bedding compounds, and connector, rebed in polyurethane.
  • Replace topping lift and running backstay coated wires
  • Install supplemental Seafrost air cooled DC refrigeration system with digital thermostats tied into existing plates
  • Replace Bobstay

When Pacific Seacraft and Bill Crealock started the design process for the Pacific Seacraft 40 they drew from years of experience of their own and hundreds of owners of the Pacific Seacrafts that came before. This collaboration brought together the design genius of Bill Crealock and hundreds of thousands of sea miles on his earlier designs to create a very workable interior that is equally comfortable at the dock or at sea. Two parameters that were universally requested were two private staterooms and one head aft with a separate stall shower and these features were incorporated into this design.

Starting forward is the owner’s stateroom. At the forward end of the berth is access to the chain locker, which is divided to accept two rodes. This boat has the optional full V-berth, which the owner decided would be better for the occasion with a full crew when two crew might wish to sleep there. The extra width of the larger berth makes this comfortable. There are shelves outboard that were widened by three inches when built to allow the storage of larger items including an extra headsail and spinnaker. There is massive storage in several compartments in this area including a hanging locker, three storage compartments under the berth with access through louvered doors, three large drawers at the foot of the berth and four additional lockers. There are cabin fans as well as two Alpenglow lights, two port lights and an opening hatch for light and ventilation.

Next aft is the main salon with a straight settee to port and a U-shaped settee to starboard with a large table that drops to convert this area to a large berth. All of the tankage on this boat is either below the cabin sole or the berths so all of the area under and behind the settees is storage. There is also additional storage in four lockers above the settees as well as two alcoves for book storage.

Aft of the port settee is the navigation area with a very large nav desk with storage below. There is also storage in a small hanging locker under the nav desk, under the nav seat, under the floor and two lockers outboard. The area outboard of the nav seat has been modified to make the shelf wide enough for binders.

Aft of the starboard settee is the galley. The galley is G-shaped which allows the galley to be used safely under way as there is always somewhere to brace yourself. There are two stainless steel sinks just off of centerline with hot and cold pressure water, foot pumps for salt and fresh water and a Seagull water filter spigot. An icebox drain also is plumbed to drain into the sink. The refrigeration is the Sea Frost system with three holding plates, two in the freezer and one in the refrigerated side with thermometers installed in the front of the box. This system is driven by either two separate 12 VDC systems or by the engine driven system. The two DC systems have individual digital thermostatic and speed control, one for the freezer and one for the refrigerator. The icebox has the optional Glacier Bay vacuum panel front opening door, which allows access to the bottom of the box easily. Outboard is the Force 10 stove with three burners, oven and broiler. The countertops are Corian.

Aft of the nav desk is the head with a separate stall shower. The head, conveniently located at the base of the companionway, allows easy access from the cockpit or interior and the shower stall provides the ideal place to hang foul weather gear to dry when underway. There is a hanging locker aft of the Groco Model K head. The counter top is Corian with a stainless steel sink with hot and cold water, fresh water foot pump and a spigot for the Seagull water filter.

Aft of the galley is the guest stateroom with a double berth. There is a hanging locker, two drawers under the berth and a shelf outboard for additional storage. Three opening ports and Hella fans provide ventilation.
