     Miss Nina is a beautifully restored and maintained shallow draft motorsailer. Enjoying wide open space, large doorways and windows, wide stairs, an open galley and uncomplicated systems Miss Nina would be a fantastic family cruising yacht that would be an ideal ICW yacht or coastal cruiser. DETAILS

     Miss Nina is a 61’ Phil Bolger pilothouse ketch built by the renowned Story Shipyard in Essex Massachusetts in 1996. The current owners found her and purchased her in 2009 and started a full refit on the yacht, restoring her Carvel planked wooden hull and basic systems in North Carolina before motoring her back to Maine to complete her restoration. Upon her arrival in Maine she was taken to O’Donovan and Dole Boatworks in Searsport, Maine where Miss Nina spent 8-months indoors undergoing an extensive restoration bringing her back to her current shape. In 2011 Miss Nina was relaunched in Maine where her owners would operate her as a business offering day trip excursions in the Belfast Maine area. The current owners are marine professionals, owning and operating a successful boat yard in the Belfast, Maine where Miss Nina is stored inside and maintained to an exacting standard. 

     Miss Nina is Carvel planked Atlantic Cedar over White Oak frames. The planks where re-fastened in 2009. All fastenings and keel bolts are silicon bronze. Miss Nina’s decks are Dynel over marine ply, painted with Interlux.

     Miss Nina’s white hull is painted with a single part Interlux urethane paint. Her green sheer stripe and green accents on the eyebrow are painted with two-part Interlux Perfection. The white bulwarks, cockpit and house sides are also painted with two-part Interlux Perfection. The exterior varnish work is sprayed as hatches, ladders, light-boxes, dorades, deck boxes, doors etc. are easily removed. The handrails are not removed and varnished in place. As the current owner removed much of the bright work during yard time, there are simple versions of the easily removable bright items so the yacht remains complete and securable during her time in the yard.

  • All paint and varnish are new over the winters between 2015 - 2017.

     Stepping on board Miss Nina from the dock you are immediately struck by the ease of access through the port and starboard inward opening side doors allowing easy access to the aft cockpit, companionway to the pilot salon and the weather decks to the fore deck/bow. 

     Directly aft of the opening side doors is the spacious cockpit featuring:

     Continuing forward on deck port and starboard of the pilot house is are wide and well protected weather decks that allow access to the fore-deck, up three steps at the forward end of the weather decks. This area also features:

  • Bright teak cap rails continued forward from the cockpit
  • Outboard sheet tracks on top of the cap rail port and starboard
  • Bronze mid ship cleat on top of cap rail port and starboard with chafe plates outboard
  • Twin sheet clutches to port on cap rail
  • Bronze pad-eyes installed inboard on the bulwark below the cap rails port and starboard
  • Varnished mahogany sliding doors port and starboard accessing the pilot salon
